Inside a Chic San Francisco Bachelorette Pad

It’s not everyday that our interior designers are asked to design an unapologetically feminine and bold bachelorette pad…but we are SO here for it! Our longtime client purchased a new home in San Francisco’s Marina district with great bones and lots of potential but no color or wow factor. That’s where Niche came in! The home was not in need of any major remodeling, which worked in our favor since the move in date was relatively quick. We focused on adding impact with bold paint choices, graphic wallpaper and luxe furniture and lighting. Taking cues from the classic architectural details, the interior design direction was intended to be sophisticated and refined with unexpected pops of color and contemporary furniture and lighting.

Cool girl vibes with Parisian flair

Our San Francisco interior designers incorporated all of the client’s favorite colors into the design of her new home, including mulberry, raspberry, teal, peacock blue and aqua. The challenge was to introduce all of these hues in a way that felt cohesive but not matchy. We achieved this by using various tones of each color throughout the home in the form of both patterned and solid fabrics and bold paint colors combined with neutral rugs to ground the spaces.

We started with the design of the lower level media room which is located right off the main entry and foyer. The walls and built-ins were painted in a rich mulberry color to add drama to the space and embrace the cozy vibe in this room. A local decorative artist painted a bespoke pattern on the ceiling with a mix of salmon and peachy neutrals with gold accents, which serves as a backdrop to the tiered chandelier by John Pomp Studios. A deep, loungey sofa is paired with petite modern armchairs that provide additional seating and can be easily moved around as needed.

Blue tones are carried into the formal dining room which features a modern walnut and bronze dining table and sculptural chairs in a navy boucle fabric. A statement chandelier acts as the focal point in the room, paired with a large-scale contemporary painting by a female artist that sits above a curved sideboard. Mid-century smoked glass bowls and vintage candlesticks complete the finishing touches.

A hand-knotted assymetric patterned rug from Atelier Fevrier grounds the living room, providing subtle texture and movement to this space. A vintage lacquer coffee table and vintage accessories add personality and a collected feel.

The peacock velvet sofa in the living room references the newly painted teal kitchen cabinets, with contemporary armchairs upholstered in a bold patterned raspberry velvet fabric. Our interior designers specified modern light fixtures with simplified shapes in these rooms to avoid competing with one another. Brass accents in the furniture mix well with new brass hardware in the kitchen.
