San Francisco Interior Design Awards!
We were thrilled to take home three ASID Design Excellence Awards from our California North Chapter this month! The competition was judged anonymously by members of other ASID chapters. The winners were selected based on functionality, creativity, originality and the best client solutions. Our winning projects include a remodel in Woodside, an eco-friendly home in Napa, and a modern condo in San Francisco.
Residential Renovation Over 6,000 square feet
Our Peninsula Estate Remodel with Andrew Mann Architecture and Peninsula Custom Homes took home the Gold award for Residential Renovation over 6,000 square feet. After purchasing a charming 1920’s home on an idyllic property in the Peninsula, our clients called in Niche Interiors and Andrew Mann Architecture to reimagine the space for their growing family. Our sophisticated clients were drawn to traditional details, global influences and saturated color. We incorporated each of these elements in an intentional way, with the goal of creating a home that was distinctive, layered and that felt collected over time.
Residential New Construction 3,000 - 6,000 square feet
Our Eco-friendly Wine Country Retreat in Napa took home the Gold in the New Construction Category. Our busy San Francisco clients were in search of a Napa Valley retreat to escape on the weekends with their young daughters. They found their dream property overlooking the rolling hills and vineyards of wine country and approached prefab builder Blu Homes with their vision of building a sustainable vacation home with expansive outdoor spaces. Niche Interiors worked closely with Blu Homes to select finishes and fixtures and to customize this energy-efficient prefab home with bespoke features. A variety of local artisans left their touch on the home, including a custom 11 foot long rift oak dining table with handmade pendant lights above. The living room is grounded by two custom eco-friendly sofas made of natural latex, organic wool, and FSC-certified wood frames.
residential space: private domain
The primary bedroom in this modern San Francisco high-rise took home the Gold award, with a dramatic wallcovering and a bespoke bed. A fun-loving family of sports fans were looking for a second home in the city to enjoy front row access to the new Warriors stadium. We created a sleek, modern space that incorporated the client’s favorite color palette of black, white, and grey.

ASID Design Excellence Awards
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Design Excellence Awards is an annual event that celebrates the best of the best in interior design. It recognizes the most exceptional projects that showcase innovative design, creativity, and originality, while also meeting the functional needs of the clients. ASID has been honoring outstanding interior design projects with the Design Excellence Awards for over 40 years. The awards are open to all ASID members, including designers, architects, and manufacturers, and are judged by a panel of industry experts.
The Design Excellence Awards recognize projects across a variety of categories, including residential, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, and educational design. Projects are judged on criteria such as innovation, functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. Winners of the ASID Design Excellence Awards receive a prestigious honor and recognition within the industry, including coverage in national publications and opportunities for speaking engagements and other industry events. The awards also serve as a platform for designers to showcase their work and build their portfolio.
But the Design Excellence Awards go beyond just recognizing individual designers or projects. They also highlight the importance of interior design as a profession and the impact it can have on people’s lives. The winning projects demonstrate how interior design can transform spaces, improve the user experience, and contribute to the overall well-being of individuals and communities.
