Customizing a Napa Vacation Home
Our prefab home project in Napa is packed full of customized touches!
This was a unique challenge for Niche – to work within the constraints of a prefab home, while pushing boundaries to make it feel tailored and personalized for our interior design clients and their lifestyle. We worked closely with Blu Homes to select finishes and fixtures and to add custom touches throughout this Napa vacation home. Sustainability and healthy indoor air quality were top priorities for our clients, a busy young family looking for an indoor/outdoor weekend retreat outside of San Francisco.
Bespoke Features
The Niche Interiors design team collaborated with our local fabricators to introduce handmade elements throughout the home. In the primary bedroom we created a faux-bois plaster wall treatment to add texture and architectural interest to the otherwise simple space. Locally fabricated live edge nightstands add an organic element, alongside cotton and linen bedding.
supporting local craftsmen
Our clients love to entertain and being able to host other families at their vacation home was a must! Niche designed a custom oak dining table and coordinating benches to maximize the space – providing seating for 12 -15 people! The table, benches, and bentwood pendant lights were all fabricated by local San Francisco Bay Area craftspeople.
non-toxic upholstery
We designed modern, eco-friendly sofas for our chemically-sensitive clients, using natural latex foam wrapped in organic wool, FSC-certified wood frames and non-toxic glues. Free of all harmful flame retardant chemicals!
indoor outdoor flow
Our Bay Area interior designers collaborated with Terra Ferma Landscapes on the outdoor spaces, creating custom cushions and pillows for the firepit and outfitting the pool cabana with sheer drapes to filter the sun on warm summer days. client testimonial
“Jennifer and her colleagues each got to know our interests, preferences, and aspirations for the space through a series of discussions that gave us absolute confidence that we were on the same team. Sitting here now, our Napa home is stunning. I walk around each day feeling incredibly happy and peaceful in the environment. The colors and aesthetic are soothing, the art is inspiring and the attention to detail is never lost on me. I feel deeply grateful and fortunate that I had the opportunity to partner with Jennifer and Niche and hope to do so on my next project.”
I’m excited to apply some of these concepts to my future vacation home plans. Thanks for this wonderful source of inspiration!
