Contemporary Furniture Design Highlight: Studio Dunn
Saturday, May 29th, 2010
I recently came across the website of Studio Dunn, the furniture manufacturer based out of Rhode Island that recently took home the ICFF 2010 New Designer Award. [International Contemporary Furniture Fair]
Their Coventry stool ($320) caught my eye (I want one!) and I was pleased to read more about their focus on conservation — Studio Dunn only uses solid American hardwoods sourced from sustainable forests. Although their product line is still minimal, I see great potential in this emerging company. Keep up the good work!

Bun in the Oven? Best Online Sources for Modern Babies
Monday, February 15th, 2010
Many of my clients are welcoming babies into the world shortly…Exciting! As a result, I thought I would share some of my favorite online sources for modern and sustainable baby furniture and accessories for those who are expecting. Luckily, there are a lot more options for design-savvy parents nowadays.
I’ve been a fan of Petit Collage since spotting their booth at the Renegade Craft Fair. How cute is that mobile??

Jungle Friends Mobile, $68. Made from sustainable bamboo.
Zac & Zoe offer a great selection of modern baby accessories, from furniture to creative toys and decor. Best of all, many of their products are made from sustainable materials. Go green babies!

Cariboo Classic Bassinet, $425. Made from sustainable wood. Shown in Teak finish.
2Modern carries tons of modern baby lines such as Offi, Oeuf, and Boodalee. They also carry Argington — a Green line of kid’s furniture made of Baltic Birch that is finished with a non-toxic, ecologically friendly clear coat.

Oeuf Robin Crib, $565. Sustainable wood and painted in 100% natural, water-based paint.

Oilo Penelope Glider, $1,299. Faux-leather is easily cleaned. Finally, a stylish glider!

Scrivener's Stool, $295. Iron & wood.

Belden kitchen island, $895. Functional and made of reclaimed pine.
