Decor Mag Highlights: June 2010

I finally got around to tearing and filing images from the June decor magazines. There weren’t many images that evoked gasps of awe, but still many inspiring rooms with quiet elegance. Here are my favorites from Elle Decor and House Beautiful…

I love the lucite table paired with those natural chairs.

The accent pillows and ottoman take this room from boring to chic.

Meg Ryan's home -- Apparently she also has great taste.

I would give up wine for a year for these Holly Hunt chairs!

I started to notice that my mailbox isn’t as full of interior design magazines as it used to be. I miss Domino as much as the next guy (or gal)! Here are my favorite images from this month’s (remaining) decor magazines. Elle Decor and Coastal Living are where I found the most inspiration; the below images are from these two publications.

: Sophisticated island chic! Love the crisp black & white mixed with natural materials.

: The corresponding living room incorporates the black & white palette, adding eclectic furnishings and natural accents.

Bold stripes sass up this bar area.

Glossy blue walls and a cozy mix of furniture create an inviting library.

Clever Design Trick from San Francisco Dining by Design: Modernize Old Chairs with Plastic Seats

I just came across this photo I snapped at DIFFA’s (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Dining by Design event in November. I loved this room as a whole, but especially the clever idea of updating antique dining chairs with plastic seats and chair backs instead of the standard of reupholstering. The curves of the chair really stand out…So smart!

Chic neutrals is the theme for January/February Decor Mag Highlights. Thanks to Elle Decor and House Beautiful for these inspiring interior shots!

This creamy palette is perfect the sitting area of a master bedroom.

Great composition and unique use of stripes. Not sure about the functionality of that coffee table though...

The home owners made a wise decision to keep the rough texture on this dining room wall during the remodel. Love it!

Check out my favorite images from the November/December issues of Elle Decor and House Beautiful. Also, a sad farewell to Metropolitan Home magazine…we will miss you!

This room packs a punch! The color scheme provides great inspiration for a sitting room.

The eclectic mix of prints and woods and generous use of linen and cotton create a sophisticated and comfortable retreat.

Great idea to use two smaller tables and a freestanding L-bench in the place of an actual built-in banquette.

Many of us city dwellers aren’t blessed with family rooms or sitting rooms to display Christmas trees. This surely doesn’t mean we can’t get in the holiday spirit! One of my favorite ideas for the holidays is decorating your chandelier instead of a tree. It’s mess free, doesn’t require watering, and can look just as chic.
